This is a portrait that I took of one of my fellow rowers. He's standing in this simplistic position because it emphasizes the seriousness associated with the sport. I included the arms and chest to show just how massive some of these people are, and how much time, dedication, and effort is required to be successful. The photo is in black and white because simplifies this single story that we got from images into two colors; black and white, allowing the viewer to really focus on the subject. Also added the blur to create a mysterious feel and to really show how much of a single story photos can really be.
In this rough magazine cover, I wanted to send a message through the image itself. I noticed how a lot of magazine covers did't really symbolize what was going on within the magazine. So I decided to really link the two. Having Carlos hanging with a distressed face really helps emphasize/ bring across the message of the economic situation that we are dealing with now!
